DEUTER Backpack Materials Most important: the right backpack materials. Not just so that your „Deuter” will really get through the thick and thin with it's high quality fabrics, but also, so the creative combination of the right fabrics on the pack will optimise performance and reduce weight. Deuter uses only selected backpack fabrics that are rip- and abrasion-proof, colourfast, UV-resistant, quick drying, water resistant, long lasting and lightweight. The two important synthetic materials are nylon (polyamide) and polyester. High density polyamide fabric is extremely abrasion resistant in a thin layer and is more robust than polyester. It is popular due to its high performance in a light weight layer. Polyester doesn't absorb water, and doesn’t bleach when exposed to UV rays. Most importantly, the rugged polyester fabric has a typical soft touch yet is not heavy because polyester fibres are lighter. The fabrics are specified by their thread thickness in denier (den), which is the thread weight specified over a thread length of 9,000 metres. This means that a 9,000 metre long 600 den thread, for example, would weigh 600 grams. To provide high water resistance, Deuter fabrics are coated exclusively with polyurethane (PU) which is abrasion-proof, cold-resistant and flexible.
YKK® zippers: currently the best available on the market, these top quality zippers are very robust and reliable. We have upgraded to these little high-tech miracles for the first time in this season's range.
Polyamid (Nylon)
Deuter-Duratex: A Polyamide-fabric that is extremely abrasion and tear resistant. For all larger backpacks this is used for the bottom panel. It has a thread of 1000 den and a thick PU coating on the inside.
Deuter-Ballistic: New high density woven polyamide 420 denier fabric with high strength and lightweight makes it especially suitable for alpine packs. PU coating. Shiny finish.
Deuter-Ballistic Lite: Thin, tight-weave and lightweight 210 Polyamide fabric with a technical look and a soft hand. Ideal for light, sporty backpacks such as Bike and AC Lite models. PU-coated.
Deuter-Ripstop-Nylon: The regular chain-and-weft weaving of stronger threads creates a strong, but light 420 den nylon fabric with good abrasion and rip stopping characteristics. The outside is water-repellent, the inside is PU coated.
Deuter-MacroTec: For the Aircontact series we use a tighter woven and therefore more robust variation of the Deuter-Ripstop-Nylon. It consists of 420 den threads and features a thick PU-coating. Deuter-MacroLite: Special high density 420 denier polyamide offers high abrasion resistance with it's very tight weave. A very high quality, durable fabric with fine texture and technical appearance. Used with Paragon and Traveller. PU coating.
Cordura® 6.6HT: Highest quality 420 denier nylon 6.6 from Invista. The ripstop weave, and high tenacity fibres gives exceptional strength and abrasion resistance with low weight. PU coating. Used exclusively on the new Paragon expedition packs.
Deuter-Diamond-Lite: A lightweight 210 denier nylon fabric with diagonal ripstop inter-woven reinforcement threads that provide this material with enhanced tear resistance and its technical appearance. The right mix of robustness and lightness ideal for our bike collection. PU coated.
Deuter-Microrip-Nylon: 210 den Nylon fabric with strong ripstop threads and PU coating. This fine, lightweight and yet abrasion resistant nylon is optimal for lightweight backpack construction.
Hexlite 100: A new ultra lightweight fabric with only 100 denier rating. Hexagonal ripstop weave pattern for extra strength and technical appearance. This super light, PU coated polyamide fabric is used on the smaller Speed Lite packs.
Hexlite 210: This new 210 Hexagonal ripstop fabric used on the larger Speed Lite packs. A technical polyamide fabric which offers great strength for very lightweight alpine pack construction. PU coating.
Deuter-Taffeta-Nylon: It is a fine weave of 190 den threads for the Deuter rain covers. It is light with small packing dimensions. The PU coating grants excellent water-resistance.
Polyester
Deuter-Microrip-Polytex: 150 den Polyester with PU coating. Very fine and lightweight Polytex fabric with stronger ripstop threads. Extremely suitable for the construction of lightweight backpacks like AC Lite.
Deuter-Super-Polytex: Made from 600 den Polyester thread and with a thick PU coating, this multi-purpose fabric is robust and lightweight. It is most suitable for our high quality hiking backpacks and crossover packs, used in average conditions to keep the weight to a minimum.
Deuter-Ripstop-Polytex: The sturdier version of the Deuter Super Polytex with woven in stronger threads. PU coated. It has an important role in our travel packs and the Aircontact series.
Deuter-MeshTex: The soft polyester mesh allows for a fine ventilation of the shoulder straps and the back pads.
3D-Air-Mesh: A 3 mm thick and therefore three dimensional polyester mesh. The optimum air permeability and padding effect turns it to the ideal lining fabric for back padding, shoulder straps and hip belts. It offers maximum durability and comfort. |
